I'm a huge fan of 'Lost', and I'm not surprised its season 5 premiere had such low ratings. While I was watching it on Wednesday night, I could see how that there was no way it made itself welcoming to new viewers.
And as it gets closer to its finish date, the show has to finally make choices as to what certain mysteries actually mean. And that means former fans who held on to their own theories all this time, only to see them be tossed aside for what the producers wanted, would probably turn away because it was no longer what they wanted. (Hey, I loved my theory that Ms. Hawking was the White Guardian of 'Doctor Who', but the premiere shot that down. I got over it.)

From that publicity release about "Big Top":
"What do you do when you've advertised a death-defying stunt which everyone has bought tickets to see, and the performer is just that little bit too injured?"
You're such masters at understatement over there, I'm guessing the performer's dead!
