BBC1 Christmas trailers

Posted on December 1, 2008 | 4 comments |

Trailers from BBC1 for its Christmas season have arrived on YouTube. Here's the drama one, with lots and lots of clips from Doctor Who and the Jonathan Creek Christmas special, among other things.

And here's the comedy one, featuring, among other things, clips from Gavin & Stacey, The Royle Family and that Blackadder documentary.

Blast. I will have to go hunt this down on YouTube, because your copy is claiming to be unavailable. In addition to which, the BBC Doctor Who web site has its Advent calendar up which refuses to show me its goodies because I'm in the wrong area. Bloody Scrooges, the lot of them.

It's annoying, isn't it? The Beeb now does most of its trailers with country restrictions; CBS and co in the US do likewise. I can understand some things being restricted (such as full programmes), but trailers? Come on guys!

The second of those trailers is unavailable in London, so I think it has been taken down. I was quite excited to see clips of Lark Rise To Candleford in the first one, the televisual equivalent of a half hour nap curled up in a warm duvet. Which is a good thing. Sort of.

The BBC, in its wisdom, has made the video private. No doubt it'll come back soon.
