"We hear rumblings that the final few actors in contention for the role are, in fact, black."
The final _few_? Here's hoping they're all Paterson Joseph in different hats.
As for 'Little Britain USA re-commissioned', why? I just about made it through one full episode, but it made me laugh less than the Simpsons Movie, which is saying something, what with the yellow people providing exactly one chuckle during their feature-length 'epic'.

The article doesn't say Vanessa Redgrave is in the frame for the Doctor, it says she's angling for a guest role. Although she is one of the few women I could imagine playing the Doctor (I saw her playing Prospero in The Tempest a few years ago, and she was fab. And wearing a long coat and a scarf).
Paterson Joseph and Chiwetel Ejiofor, then?

And Colin Salmon and Adrian Lester.
