[dyma lush] I'm hardly shocked the dreadful Phoo Action has bitten the dust. At best, it would have been a reasonable, if shockingly expensive, children's show. Thing is, a live-action version was always on a hiding to nothing - it should have been an animation.
As for Being Human, I was glad to hear it had finally got a full commission a while back. It's just a shame most of the cast isn't returning, seeing as everyone seemed well-suited to their respective roles last time.

I did think the original cast was great. Am beginning to wonder if the "recasting because of scheduling conflicts" claim was pure lies to cover up Cohen's "youth at any costs" drive at BBC3. I bet he's glad to see the back of Gavin & Stacey, too.

Phoo Action: HA HA. HA HA HA! HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
That show was terrible and everybody knew it - they only took it as far as they did because, presumably for internal BBC reasons, it had foolishly been commissioned for a series even before the pilot was shown, to general apathy.
Being Human was good, in a moody, intriguing way. The vampire guy wasn't so great I care about his replacement, but Andrea Riseborough was good - perhaps she's committed elsewhere now. Surely both of those are as young as Russell Tovey? What worries me more is the loss of the moody elements (and the Adrian Lester threat running story) to be replaced by a vamp/werewolf/ghost version of No Heroics, ie fantasy characters sitting around a pub and bullshitting.

As Escape to Witch Mountain was probably my favourite film aged 7(ish) I think I am going to have to go and see this even if it is crap. Maybe the special effects will be better...
And now they've cancelled Phoo Action, please tell me someone at BBC3 is going to have the sense to commission a series of Mrs InBetweeny which was fabulous.
I loved the pilot of Being Human (we didn't realise it was a pilot and went nearly demented trying to work out when the next episode was on) and hope they keep Adrian Lester in - he was great as a menacing vampire. Shame they've changed the cast as I thought they were all good.
