I love the desperation of those two Doctor stories. Frain's English teacher says he'd be good for the role! Pattinson answers "yeah maybe" when asked if he'd take it!

I'd play the Doctor in a heartbeat and my dentist reckons I'd be great. The new rumour starts here!

I'm actually very disappointed about poor Pushing Daisies, if it does go under (and that seems likely) I hope they at least get to end things on a decent note.

Returning the Hoff to KR seems like a good move and I'm seriously glad I already read Watchmen cause that trailer is awesome but very spoiler heavy.

I kind of wish that studios would come up with a trailer format that tells a kind of preamble to the story. If they'd use trailers as mini prequels then they'd be able to avoid the combination of spoiler plus "already seen the best bits" scenario that often seems to plague my cinema watching these days.

(I try to go without watching trailers these days).

    Like in old style trailers?

I think the aim with Daisies is to finish it on DVD or maybe even cable.

What Marie said. Although I've been having a lively debate (okay, a tedious, repetitive argument) with my elder daughter who is panting to see Twilight:
ED: Robert Pattinson? He'd be a great Doctor!
    Me: He's too young.
ED: He was in Harry Potter!
    Me: Exactly. He's too young.
ED: But he's two years older now!
    Me: Still too damn young....

And so on. (I mourn Pushing Daisies too. Of course, with the crap going on at our house lately, I haven't watched it for a couple of weeks, but Canadian viewers don't count for these decisions anyway...)

Since when was there a team in Watchmen called 'The Watchmen'? And other nerd grumbles.

Those new Doctor stories are starting to have a hollow, wooden scraping sound to them.

I'm guessing that people are now naming as many names as possible now, because no one actually knows anything, so that when the name is finally announced, the lucker guesser can say, "I told you so!"

Rich Johnston, whose presence has enlivened this blog recently, tells me that he went to one of RTD's talks the other day and was categorically told that there have been no casting decisions of any sort made yet.

    Rusty lies, of course.

    To quote someone, you betcha!

Seriously though, I would be neither surprised to find they've all been fibbing for ages NOR that they haven't a clue who is taking over.

I think those options pretty much cover us....

"Enliven"? Sounds like "interesting", as in "may you live in".. etc.

Russell states that no decision is made. I'm told elsewhere that Paterson is favourite but that no decision has yet been made. And from another person I'm told that no decision has yet been made and they are considering multiple options.

    Maybe it's true.

Well, a mutual friend of ours told me that Adam Buxton had definitely been cast...

    Was that Jamie?

Al Kennedy, although it was in a 'you won't believe this, and I don't either' kinda way.

You know what? I could see it. He'd certainly do it if asked.

I can't see him being asked, though. I think the days of people best known for comedy or light drama being cast as the Doctor are over. Eccles and Tennant were both serious, versatile actors, and I don't think that Moffatt is going to go away from that. Interesting that Richard Coyle hasn't been mentioned at all, though I still have a feeling the next Doctor won't be white.

"I can't see him being asked, though."
Not with that beard, anyway. Don't know if that would be a deal breaker for Buxton either.

"Interesting that Richard Coyle hasn't been mentioned at all"
Chances of Coyle being hired now Moffatt's in charge: pretty close to 0, I'd have thought, after the massive falling out between them caused by Coyle leaving about three seconds before series four of Coupling was supposed to start filming, without so much as an "I'm off" to explain it.

    He's shaved the beard off.

Didn't know that about Coyle; I guess that explains why he hasn't been mentioned!
Paterson Joseph is in the remake of Survivors next week, so this'll be a chance to see how he handles straight drama. Sweet FA's in it as well, for that whole Doctor vibe.
