I remember before "Voyage Of The Damned", one of the tabloids over there had Kylie saying they were trying to get Woody Allen to play Albert Einstein....
I think Churchill would be a logical choice for guest character, along the lines of Queen Victoria. But I'll believe it when I see it.
Should any of their casting agents check out your site, Rob, I'll throw a suggestion for casting - Robert Hardy. And if they get him, aim for Davison's return as the Fifth Doctor, just for the in-joke.

I was planning to take partner to see the Tate play as a suprise for our next London trip: then damn me he points to an ad and I had to fess up I was booking for us. (We go in a few weeks). Personally I think he's gutted that Tate's left DW as he's been a bit keen on her for quite some time and the weekly presence on his screen has been well appreciated - I don't think he's care much about whether the play is excellent or only okay as long as she's on the stage in front of us. I guess Tate is at least in a position to offer to take a pay cut. Not sure all West End casts could do that and theatre work is never as highly paid as many other forms. But tickets are expensive overall and the National's ability and funding to be able to do the £10 thing has set the bar.

Not sure how much West End casts get paid, but the majority of actors at the National at least are on minimum wage (I'm told). They do it for the prestige and the art.
I'm curious as to how much Tate's paid though, if she thinks she can get all the ticket prices down from £25-£45 to £10 for a few months' worth of performances in a big theatre like the Duke of York's, just by taking a pay cut.

All actors at National, RSC, Royal Court, Donmar etc work for minimum and are paid the same, doesn't matter whether the actor plays the biggest or the smallest role. If the play tranfers to West End, they get paid more.
But not many tickets at the West End are sold full price anyway. The tickets are too pricey and it's still difficult to make money from plays.
