Matthew Horne as Gavin and Joanna Page as Stacey in Gavin & Stacey

Hmm. The number of members of the Facebook group Campaign for a 3rd series of Gavin and Stacey has doubled in the last two days.

Do you think the Beeb is wondering if they could convince James Corden and Ruth Jones to write a third series if they hand them a big pile of cash?

Well I love Gavin and Stacey so I hope they go for it.

I did try to say on your news thread (but it doesn't like me for some reason), I was going to ask you to put up a picture of Rob Brydon as well as Joanna Page, as I find Bryn (Brokeback Mountain tendencies aside)very endearing.

I am also very keen to see Smithy and Ness get together. I love the way their weight is accepted as ok, and it certainly never gets in the way of Ness's lovelife. That's unusual in a comedy. Maybe they should get their own series. Now that would be brave... Two fat romantic leads. I'd love to see it!

She's a harsh mistress, the blog commenting system, so I'm sorry you couldn't comment elsewhere – but glad you could comment here.

Series two did feel a bit like the Ness and Smithy show already, but I would have liked more of Gavin and Stacey personally so they could have room to develop as characters. You don't get as much of a sense of them as you do with Ness and Smithy.

praps they're holding off on Series 3 of G&S so Ness and Smithy CAN take centre stage....

I agree about G&S too, though I like the characters they could do with fleshing out. And Stacey irritated the HELL out of me in the last episode. Lots of people have to live miles away from their families to be with the person they love. And why doesn't she just get a job instead of lying around on the sofa feeling sorry for herself?

Apart from that (which is a minor carp really) I loved the show and will definitely try to catch series one when it repeats.

"Lots of people have to live miles away from their families to be with the person they love."

I would refer you to the old truism: "You can take the Welsh girl out of Wales – but she'll want to go back again straight away". Take it from me that the fact that Stace couldn't stand being out of Wales for that long was just another one of the accurate G&S observations of Welsh life - it's just more understated than some of the others.

"And why doesn't she just get a job instead of lying around on the sofa feeling sorry for herself?"
She did try but no one seemed to want her. I'd have liked to have known why. I'd have like to have known what it was she did (answers the phone? Takes electronics orders? I'm not sure), what she wanted to do in life, etc. Never found out. Gave works in computers though. Seemed to be a lot of computer shops in Barry when I was there. He'd have been fine.
