I like the way it looks as if the Sonteran is holding Martha's hand with one hand and cupping David Tennant's balls with the other. Which would certainly explain the looks on their faces.

Good point. Is this the first hint that Martha's secondment to Torchwood won't leave her unscathed for her return to Doctor Who?

Isn't he a little short for a storm trooper?
The hate on the OG boards is really very entertaining.

'Nasty, brutish and...' to quote the great Worzel himself.
Isn't it always?

It's been too long since the Sontarans were about, I'm thinking. I just look at this one and all I'm seeing is a combination of Sebastian Shaw as Anakin Skywalker and Sloth Fratelli from 'The Goonies'.

I suspect that the Sontarans might well be used for laughs: in particular, judging from comments about them in The Sarah Jane Adventures as well as the casting of Christopher Ryan and the talk by RTD about wanting to have more fun in the series this year.
The Sontarans haven't been well used since The Time Warrior/Sontaran Experiment, although The Two Doctors came close at times. I'd like to see a great big panorama of millions of identical Sontarans being birthed and indoctrinated.
I think seeing some Rutans that aren't stupid-looking is about as likely.

You've just mentioned three of the four stories they appear in!

You're neglecting Jim'll Fix It. Ha!
Besides, they were pants in Invasion of Time and pants for most of The Two Doctors so my comment pretty much stands.

You don't want to think of Jimmy Saville and probic vents in close proximity, that's all I'm saying.
Anyway Sontarans always have looked like a combination of Sebastian Shaw as Darth Vader and Sloth Fratelli from the Goonies. Mind you, I had to google Sloth Fratelli. I thought he was the lazy one out of a rubbish Glaswegian indie band.

I love the Sontarans. I think that the the Judoon from "Smith and Jones" were a genetic offshoot of the cloned Sontaran race -- they share so many characteristics.
I for one am happy to see the Sontarans back and like their appearance. The Sontarans are not the typical "scary" villian.
They're beurocratic in their ruthlessness. They're a ruthless militaristic society, engaging in thousand year wars, they're not very smart, possibly due to the lack of diversity within their genetic stock. They look as they are. Stale and loveless.
I hope they're not used for comic effect, because we have so many Sontarans running around our world today it shouldn't be treated as a joke.
