James Nesbitt? Well... I can see why. He can be funny and charming and would probably make a decent fist of it. But in my opinion he is too close to Tennant / Ecclestone, just not enough doctor-to-doctor variety. I still reckon someone like Bill Bailey would be brilliant and totally diffferent, or else Bill Nighy, who would seem to be born to the role. In fact anyone called Bill. Except Bill Oddie maybe.

Did you ever review Jekyll Rob? (I might have missed it because I only caught up with Jekyll after four weeks of transmission and was not reading reviews till then).
I think that The Sun has been spending too much time at the Doctor Who forums.
I know lots of people think that Jekyll was, among other things, his DW audition, but if that's true, I thought it was a failed audition. His "Jekyll" was a bit boring, and his "Hyde" was just mad, but with no variety or depth or even charm. Also, if the idea behind casting him is that he can be a bit like Tennant, this is not a good idea. Not only because as Marie said, there is not enough surprise and variety, but because you can't outdo Tennant in his own game.
Oh, by the way, I don't believe it's true

I didn't. I was going to: I even recorded the first three episodes. But then I realised I was never going to catch up and I wiped them. I hear he was good though.
I'm never convinced by rumours of re-casting until it actually happens. I think, given the amount of money DW brings in for the Beeb, that if DT ever leaves, it'll be because he really wants to or the Beeb loses touch with reality, because I suspect they could pay him something astronomical per episode and still turn a profit.

Steven Moffat made a point of posting at the OG to say that the James Nesbitt story was a complete fabrication. So we can forget about it.
