- CBS has commissioned some new pilots. Demons is about an ex-priest who travels around performing exorcisms. Swingtown is about wife-swapping in the 70s. A third pilot stars Janeane Garofalo as the head of a public defender's office.
- Some of the writers of 24 have ghost-written an article on Jack Bauer's behalf at Esquire, explaining some of his life lessons. They should stick to drama.

Despite the trailer at the end of last night's Torchwood I have still managed to keep myself 'la-la-la-not-listening' about the Xmas Who. Can I get all the way to Xmas day like this?

My rule of thumb with trailers is I 'll watch them once, enough to get me excited (or overexcited as in Doctor Who?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s case) but not enough to get familiar with what's happening. Plugging something else Doctor Who related, the Culture section of the Sunday Times on Christmas Eve will publish a short Doctor Who story written by Paul Cornell. From the BBC webiste: "It's the story of something strange that happens to David Tennant's Doctor when the TARDIS lands in the bedroom of a four year old boy on Christmas Eve".

The problem I have with that is it's written by Paul Cornell. I've had a pathological hatred of him since his first New Adventures book in the early 90s, which was pretentious toss. I think at one point he described his admiration for Vic Reeves' "precise post-modern sampling of texts" and I decided that if I ever met him, I'd build a wicker man, stuff him inside it and dance around it singing pagan chants.
Then he and his pals went and turned the Brian Clemens jolly romp that was Bugs into a tedious bit of fanboy sci-fi for the second series. He's been irredeemable in my eyes ever since, no matter what he's done. Grrr.

That's the problem with being knowledgeable Rob. I am ignorant therefore Mr Cornell has a clean slate with me.
Also I forgot to say, thanks for the very thorough updates and thanks for the visual distractions throughout this week. The photos puts a smile on my face every morning.

Ignorant is a bit much. I'd go for "blissfully unencumbered by memories of Paul Cornell" as a better way of looking at it. "Knowledgeable" is probably the wrong word, too: "anally retentive" or "ridiculously geeky" is probably closer to the mark.
As for the pictures, you're very welcome. I figured you'd all appreciate a touch of the Christmas DT cheer.

NB phew, I thought I was the only one who fell out with Bugs second series...
