Yet another spurious list: the Radio Times’ worst British TV programmes ever

If you need a bit of publicity, create a spurious list. The Radio Times has put together a list of the ten worst shows in British TV history or something. They are

  1. Naked Jungle (2000)
  2. Minipops (1983)
  3. Triangle (1981-83)
  4. Quickfire Balls (Avago) (2006)
  5. Annie’s Bar (1996)
  6. Wright Here, Wright Now (2002)
  7. Love Thy Neighbour (1972-76)
  8. Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (1984-91)
  9. Through The Keyhole (1983-)
  10. A Year In Provence (1993)

Wow. You really have to have watched very little TV if you think they’re the worst. And Thomas is in there because it portrays “a workplace riven by class envy where bitching, brown-nosing and backstabbing are the norm”!

They are in such trouble. I will not have anyone maligning that delightful little tank engine.

Seriously, where’s Touch The Truck or any Big Brother spin-off? Where’s Love Island? Your Face or Mine or anything else with Jimmy Carr? There are huge chunks of unmined BBC3 out there and the entire ITV1 schedule should be compressed onto a microdot, just so it could fit on the list. Have we forgotten Prime Minister Harold Wilson’s chat show so quickly and what of the unmitigated horror that was Network 7? Ultimate Force?

Anyway, what would you put on your list? Secret Smile, perhaps?

UPDATE: The full top 50 is over here. Thanks OTT!
