David Tennant covering fire

Posted on July 10, 2006 | 15 comments |

To protect myself from any backlash stemming from my review of Saturday's episode of Doctor Who, I thought I'd point you all in the direction of this not particularly pleasant piece in the Daily Mail. It's about David Tennant on the beach and asks (because like Jeopardy answers, all Daily Mail headlines must be in the form of a question) "Is this the palest man in the galaxy?"

Hmm. Someone who spends all his time in Wales, Scotland and TV studios looks a bit pale? What are the chances of that happening?

I'm not sure what is more tragic: the Daily Mail (spit), you distraction tactics, or the fact that I had already seen many of the pictures of him on the beach last week.

    Ahem.

I think we love your writing enough to allow us to have a difference of opinion over Doomsday.

Well, that's very generous of you. Still, I've probably not been meeting my Tennant picture quota for a while now, so consider that a freebie.

"...the fact that I had already seen many of the pictures of him on the beach last week"

In the papers or on a light-box?

    BWAH!!!

Oh dear god that I was so rumbled...

    **blush**

No, in my defence the worst I can claim I've done is that I signed up to a feed (yes, a FEED!) and a live journal poster included the scans. Apparently Reveal magazine had them last week.

    "Reveal magazine"

I guess the clue is in the title on that one.

Good going on the feed subscription though!

Yep, I now get a handy little notice when new posts come up. Not sussed if or how to be alerted when comments are added, but as in this instance... jeez, this is pretty much instant messaging!

Last person I saw doing that got this job. What are my chances?

Feeds are good. If you want to be told about new comments, there's the "Subscribe to this entry" box which will email you whenever someone's added a comment.

If you prefer a feed, there's a link above the "Post a comment" heading - right next to the orange radar symbol - that gives you a feed that updates whenever a comment gets added (subject to however often your feed reader looks for new stuff). And if you refresh your main feed, each post tells you how many comments have been added to each entry.

Has he seen you with the camera yet? Slim, if he has...

    No, I have innumerable disguises...

    ;)

Hmm... no, knowing what my partner Neil is like I had better just state for the record "I am not a stalker"

    No really, I'm not...

I can tell NO-ONE is believing me.

    Sigh...

No sighing in the spider-hole! David will hear you.

Ah well, if he gets a laugh out of mocking me that's fine. I just take comfort from there being far more extreme fans out there than me.

There are plenty of those indeed. I knew a guy who had three copies of every video ever released. Ever. Including second editions, foreign releases, etc.

Subscribing to a David Tennant feed? You have barely touched on the psychosis garden that classic Who fandom built.

I shall now relent from the mocking lest I open the garden gates. It can get claustrophobic in those spider holes.

Ah, but if opening the gates lets David through, that's okay.

Still, though I'm okay with holes, I am rather scared of spiders (needless to say one of my earliest memories of Who is and I don't think it helped me). Shudder...

I think the Mail headline is a little unfair given that he is positively tanned toned and terrific compared to Sophia. I am also very glad to see her legendary boobs look saggy in the bandeau top.

Sorry, obviously still feeling a bit sore, post-Rose.

Well, as long as you're in a spider hole, rather than a spider's hole, you'll be all right.

Spiders don't worry me so much, but that's because my earliest spider memories are somewhat different to yours.

Marie: as Xander would say, bitca!

(have to agree though... makes me almost glad that sagginess is not a problem for me)

Rob: would that my memories of spiders were so fond!

Haha Sophia looks really bad hahahaha

I'm sorry, don't know what came over me.
